How to Get Rid of Spiders Using Vinegar

House spiders might be some of the least threatening pests to find their way into your home, but that doesn’t mean they’re welcomed, even though they are helpful in getting rid of unwanted insects like ants and flies. Every home has spiders, no matter how clean, some are just better hiders than others. There are several DIY methods to keep this eight-legged pest away. Today we’re going to take a look at vinegar.

White vinegar works because it contains acetic acid that harms spiders. When you make a diluted solution, it safely and successfully repels them without having to worry about your children and pets being exposed to chemicals.

How to Use Vinegar to Get Rid of Spiders

For this method, you’ll need:

  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Spray bottle and/or small dishes
  1. Mix together equal parts of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. (One part water/one part vinegar)
  2. Spray directly on spiders, webs, or in places where you find them like corners, cabinets, or closets. Be sure to spray cracks or crevices in the walls and floors as well.
  3. Repeat regularly as needed. Since it’s a safe solution, you can leave the bottle in an accessible place and spray as you see them.

If you notice the odor alone is not enough to repel them, you can place small dishes of diluted white vinegar in corners, underneath furniture, or other dark areas where you’re most likely going to find spiders.
